On the first four evenings of Great Lent - Monday 23 - Thuursday 26 February - we had the service of Great Compline with the reading of the Great Canon of Saint Andrew of Crete.  These solemn services very much set the tone for the fast, the melodies and certain of the prayers being heard only during this time.  A small but steady number of people attended, with most of those present taking it in turns to assist with the reading of the psalms and prayers of Great Compline.  In our parish Great Compline is also served on Wednesday evening in the second, third, fourth and sixth weeks of Great Lent.
