Services on 18-19 July, the Seventh Sunday after Pentecost - 19/07/2015

On Saturday 18 July and Sunday 19 July we had services for the Seventh Sunday after Pentecost and in honour of Venerable Sisoёs the Great (+429 AD).   Following the evening service on Saturday the prayers of blessing were read over a recently-received shipment of candles for church use.  On Sunday morning we were joined by friends from Newcastle and Sydney.  In his sermon the parish rector spoke about the purpose and content of Saint Paul’s Letter to the Romans, readings from which are appointed on the first nine Sundays after Pentecost, focusing particularly on the pattern for Christian living briefly set out in the reading for the day (Romans 15: 1-7): bearing with the weak rather than pleasing ourselves, deriving encouragement and hope from the Holy Scriptures, and living in harmony and oneness of mind.
